LAB22: Kenneth Moreno Kiernan and Louisiana van Onna
'Wat vliegt daar #1'
In 2022 I started to investigate the name-giving of birds named after their sound (onomatopoeia). Where the sound of one bird is always the same, its name changes depending on the country and language that is spoken. With this work the sound of an oriole was played in the space throughout the exhibition, paired together with a framed feather of an oriole. Visitors were asked to describe the sound as specific as possible.
L'amie de l'estomac
I have been creating new herbaria with photographs from gentian flowers, consisting out of newly picked forget-me-nots and buttercups. For this exhibition I poured a special drink made from the roots of the Gentiana flower: Suze. Suze has first been presented at the World Exhibition of 1889 and awarded a gold medal as the best French digestive. As collective opening we took a shit of the yellow drink to celebrate our health.
